I did it!!

I got away for a couple of days! Me, baby Wendy and four of my siblings loaded up in my little brothers twelve passenger van and drove 24 hours to Minnesota. Well, I didn't actually drive. My 3 brothers drove. My little sister and I talked with each other and with my brothers and mostly tried to keep Wendy happy for 24 hours in a car-seat. But it was so much fun! We visited my mom and her family. Her mom, my Grandma Wheeler, is sick. It was so good to get to see her and visit with her and Aunt Mickey, my moms sister, for a little. My moms brother, Uncle Mike, was our tour guide for a couple of hours. He took us to the pond and property he owns where he is building a cabin. It was such a peaceful, quiet place. Then we went to see the resort on a lake where my mom grew up.  That kind of makes it sound like she had a privileged life but she didn't. Her parents owned the resort and my mom worked very hard as a young girl to help keep it running. After that, Uncle Mike took us to see a house he built that was absolutely amazing. He completely handcrafted the whole thing and it was beautiful. We also went to see my Uncle Greg. He is my moms brother-in-law. He was married to her sister, Rozzie, who passed away a couple of years ago. He lives in a cabin in the woods and had just shot a deer a couple of days earlier from a tree stand in his yard. My brothers love that sort of thing!
It was a quick trip. We stayed in town for about 18 hours and only saw my mom for about 2 of those. She left the morning after we got there for Texas! Crazy Mom! We tried to surprise her and in the end she surprised us! After our visit we turned around and drove 24 more hours to get home. I loved it! Road trips are one of my very favorite things in the whole world. Wendy was so good and still remembers that the picture above is Uncle Nolan, Nemo, baby Wendy and Mom in front of the "ssippi" River. Now I am looking forward to the next trip. This time it will be with my hubby and kids.
